I certainly didn't feel like driving 3 hours to the eastern shore, so I improvised and we hit this little beach less than an hour away.
Although I have been to this place before, friends and I have used the boat ramp side and I've never been on the beach itself. I have to say, it was a little "Jaws"-ish, and the "sand" was so not sand. I felt like we were on a construction site because there were no shells, it was all rocks. They were smooth rocks but still. I wasn't really feeling it. The water was warm but I didn't let the kids go past their knees because although it's the Chesapeake Bay, there are still sandsharks.
And yes, having a 4 year old boy qualifies me as a shark expert, thankyouverymuch. I've had to read so many freaking shark books ever the years, you will never see me stick one toe in the ocean again.
Still love the beach!
